Meet Dr. Joe Salamon

Dr. Joseph Salamon grew up in Lake View, NY. He graduated from Canisius High School and attended The University of Scranton. A member of the Special Jesuit Liberal Arts Program, Dr. Salamon majored in neuroscience and philosophy, minored in political science and held concentrations in foreign languages and history. Dr. Salamon received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from SUNY at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 2006 after extensive participation in biomaterials research. During dental school, Dr. Salamon served as an officer of the School of Dental Medicine Student Research Group and represented the University at Buffalo with the American Dental Education Association. His research was presented to the International Association of Dental Research Annual Session in 2004 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Dr. Salamon joined Dr. Gambacorta and Dental Associates in 2006, practicing alongside his mentor Dr. Gambacorta until 2008 when he accepted a position with Hawaii Family Dental Centers, on the neighbor island of Kauai. With Hawaii Family Dental, Dr. Salamon quickly became the Senior Clinical Associate of Kukui Grove Center, in Lihue Hawaii, serving the people of Kauai, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders. He soon joined Hanalei Dental, in a north shore surfing village, practicing with Surfer-Dentists Dr. Shawn Murphy and Dr. Mike Lutwin. A member of the Hawaii Dental Association, Dr. Salamon was appointed Kauai County Public Health Representative and served as Kauai County delegate to the Hawaii Dental Board of Trustees. Dr. Salamon and his wife Melissa welcomed their first child Liam Michael while living on Kauai and left "The Garden Island" to raise him amongst family, friends, and the great people that make Buffalo, NY home to all of us.

Dr. Salamon's is a member of many professional organizations including: The American Dental Association, New York Dental Association, Hawaii Dental Association, Eighth District Dental Society, Kauai County Dental Society, and the National Health Service Corps.

Dr. Salamon is currently the Chief Dental Officer of the Seneca Nation Health Department, serving our neighbors of the Seneca Nation in that capacity since 2010. He, Melissa, and their two sons live in the the Parkside neighborhood of Buffalo. Outside of dentistry, his interests include: running, hiking, snorkeling, body-boarding, cooking, assisting his wife's studio photography business, and arguing politics with his little sister.
