Meet Dr. John Houghtaling

Dr. John Houghtaling grew up in the southern tier (Horseheads), went to UB undergrad, graduated from UB Dental School in 1972, followed by a two year residency at Children’s Hospital. He taught at the University and Children’s for two years then joined Dr. Levin in private practice in 1976.

He is board certified in Pediatric Dentistry and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Because of a special interest in growth and development, he has taken hundreds of hours of continuing education in orthodontics.

He is a past president of the New York State Association of Pediatric Dentists and has been president of the Western New York Association of Pediatric Dentists for 25 years.

Dr. Houghtaling has been married to his wife Laura for 38 years and has two children (no grandchildren yet!). He is an avid cyclist, cross-country skier, sailor and photographer. He enjoys working on Habitat for Humanity projects.
