Meet Dr. John Houghtaling

Dr. John Houghtaling grew up in Horseheads, NY, went to UB for his undergraduate degree, and graduated from UB Dental School in 1972, followed by a two year residency at Children’s Hospital. He taught at UB and Children’s Hospital for two years before joining Dr. Levin in private practice in 1976.

He is board certified in pediatric dentistry and is a diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Due to a special interest in growth and development, he has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education in orthodontics.

Dr. Houghtaling is a past president of the New York State Association of Pediatric Dentists and has been president of the Western New York Association of Pediatric Dentists for 25 years.

Dr. Houghtaling has been married to his wife Laura for 40 years and has two children and two grandchildren. He is an avid cyclist, cross-country skier, sailor, and photographer. He also enjoys working on projects with Habitat for Humanity.
